Sam Low signed with the North Colorado Owlz.
Matsuoka, a right-handed pitcher from Sammamish, Washington, finished out his D1 eligibility this past spring in his second season with the Buccaneers. He arrived in Charleston in the fall of 2022 after a two-year stint with Everett Community College. During his time with the Bucs with the Buccaneers, he became one of the team's go-to options in the bullpen. He made 37 appearances on the year and pitched in over 60 innings collecting 62 strikeouts while donning the blue and gold. This past spring he collected a pair of wins as well as a pair of saves.
"Dylan is a tireless worker and has thrown himself into pitching since he made the switch from being a position player just under two years ago," said head coach Karl Kuhn. "He has a tremendous arm and was a main stay in our bullpen. I am so proud of the growth that Dylan has showed over the last couple years and developing his craft as a pitcher. Dylan is a selfless teammate, and we are so proud that he has this opportunity to pitch professionally."
Low, a right-handed middle infielder from Littleton, Colorado exhausted his collegiate eligibility this spring in his fifth year of college baseball. He began his college career in the 2020 season at Mesa Community College and spent the following year at Florida Atlantic. In the fall of 2021, Low began his three years at Charleston Southern. He played 120 games during his time with CSU and rose to be known as one of the top defensive players in the Big South. He collected 36 career hits, drew 32 walks, scored 26 runs and batted in 19 RBIs.
"I am very excited that Sam has gotten an opportunity to play professional baseball," Kuhn shared. "Coach MacMillan and Coach Twohig were both instrumental and highly responsible for Sam's development through his career at Charleston Southern. Sam is the consummate teammate, and we are very proud of his accomplishments and the opportunity that is in front of him to extend his plating career professionally."
