CHARLESTON – Micah Gilpatric continued his dominant return this past weekend and earned his third Big South Men's Track Athlete of the Week award for the 2025 indoor season.
 
Gilpatric traveled to Boston University for the David Hemerey Valentine Invitational and competed in the 5K at the meet on Friday evening. In the race, he claimed 60^th overall in the field of over 200 of the best runners not just collegiately, but in the world.
 
His time in the race was 13:50.29 to record an indoor personal best of more than a full minute. The time also goes down as a school record, becoming the first-ever sub-14 minute indoor 5K time in Charleston Southern history and breaking the old school record by more than 20 seconds. The mark ranks as the 7^th fastest in league history as well.
 
Gilpatric has also earned the award this season following the season opener in Boston on December 7 and their meet at Clemson on January 29.
 
The team will compete at the USC Open this Saturday to conclude the regular season before lacing it up for the Big South Championships which will be held from Friday, February 28 through Saturday, March 1.
