Senior Spotlight: Madison Adamson

Madison Adamson was the first recruit of the Clarisse White Era, but her impact goes beyond what she has done on the court. It is the impact that she has had on the program off the court and in the locker room that has made her time at Charleston Southern so special.

A native of Hoover, AL, Adamson came to Charleston Southern nor knowing what she was walking into but had the trust in her relationship with Head Coach Clarisse White and faith in her decision join the Buccaneers in their quest to "Climb the Ladder".

She is one of the most accomplished players in school history. Saturday's game against Radford will be her 117th game at Charleston Southern, which puts her in the top five in school history in that department. It will be her 98th start of her career, which will put her in sole possession of sixth place all-time. Lastly, it will be her 78th consecutive start for the program, as she has started every game for the Buccaneers since Jan. 4, 2023.

Prior to her senior season, Adamson was named team captain for the 2024-25 squad, and she has not disappointed. Her leadership on the court has guided the Buccaneers to a 9-6 conference record with a chance to have double-digit wins as well as the second most wins in school history during conference play.

For Adamson, her play on the court has been just as impactful as what she has done off the court, as she is tied for the Big South lead in rebounds (137) and rebounds per game (9.1) during conference play. She has 203 rebounds this season and 767 for her career which is second in school history.

The highlight of her senior season was during a 78-50 win over Winthrop on Jan. 15, when the Hoover, AL native, earned a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. During her Charleston career, Adamson has had six double-doubles as well, including a career-high 17 rebounds against Francis Marion on Dec. 30, 2023, to go along with 12 points. She followed that up wit a career-high 17 points and 12 rebounds against USC Upstate on Jan. 13, 2024.

"While being a Buccaneer, we have been faced with a lot of challenges on and off the court," said Adamson. "I am so proud of us for not only keeping our head afloat, but doing things like getting a triple-double and being one of the best rebounders in the Big South."

Adamson has been a Buccaneer during the hard times. Her time at Charleston Southern has not been easy. In her first two seasons with the program, she experienced a 2-27 season followed by a 5-25 season; however, her buy-in to the program as well as her hard work and determination has allowed her to be part of the success that Charleston Southern is currently experiencing. If not for her relentlessness, she would not be team captain of a Charleston Southern squad that will finish with a winning record in conference play for just the fifth time in program history.

Clarisse White on Madison Adamson:
"Madi is synonymous with the 'Coach White Era' in that she is the first player who said 'yes' to us and has been with us building this program from day one.  I am eternally grateful and indebted to her for her willingness and support.  We have built this program on her work ethic and attitude.  I have never coached a better leader who drives culture and championship habits. I am so incredibly proud to see her growth over the past four years.  Her mark on the program will be felt long after her time here."

Adamson will be one of four senior recognized honored before Charleston Southern's 2:00 PM game against Radford on Saturday.
