Box Score ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Winthrop Eagles scored eight runs in the first three innings, as they shut out the Charleston Southern softball team by an 8-0 score on Friday night in the series opener.
Six of the Eagles (22-12, 6-1 in conference) eight runs were charged to
Brenna Conley, who started for the Buccaneers (12-17, 2-2 in conference) and went 1.1 innings allowing a grand slam in the bottom of the second inning. The Buccaneers used three pitchers on the night with
Riley Lauffer allowing two runs in 1.2 innings pitched.
Mackenzie Rutkoff got 1.0 innings of work and had one strikeout.
Offensively, the Buccaneers were held to just one hit on the night and only had two base runners overall. The series concludes tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM. Each game will be streamed on ESPN+.
