JACKSON SPRINGS, N.C. – Charleston Southern Men's Golf claimed their first team and individual championships on Saturday at the Lake Spring Break Shootout. The event was hosted by Foxfire Golf & Country Club with Mercyhurst serving as the hosting institution.
As a team, Charleston Southern shot +8 to claim the top honors of the field of seven squads. They finished +8 across the three days. They fired 288, 287, 297 for the scores during the rounds. The Bucs had a winning margin of 16 strokes over the second-place finishers.
Layne Lambert claimed the medalist honors at the tournament, finishing with a total score of -1. He went under par in each of the first two rounds with scores of 71 and 70 before shooting a 74 in the final round. He beat out Evan Rowane of Mercyhurst who went even across all the rounds.
Lambert was one of the many standout performances from the Buccaneers as
Alex North claimed a tie for third,
Griffin Tarver was fifth and
Dewi John was eighth. North finished the week at +1 shooting a pair of 72s to start it and closed the week with a 73. Tarver was +2 with scores of 70, 73, 75. John fired a 75 to begin and end the week and sandwiched a 72 between those rounds.

Michael Rauscher (28, +25).
Charleston Southern will continue their spring break by playing in another weekend tournament. They will travel to the outskirts of Savannah, Georgia to play in the People's Championship in St. Simons Island, Georgia. It will be held from Thursday, March 13 through Saturday, March 15.
