FARMVILLE, VA - The Charleston Southern softball team fell to the Longwood Lancers on Saturday, as the Lancers salvaged the three-game series with an 8-4 victory.
The Lancers (15-27, 8-7 in conference) scored at least one time in each inning, including a three-run fourth inning. Down 1-0 in the top of the second, the Buccaneers (18-26, 7-8 in conference) took a 2-1 lead, as
Carsten Sandvig hit her team-leading fourth home run of the season.
Charleston Southern was down 7-2 entering the sixth inning until an RBI single from
Emma Villaescusa and a Lancer error cut the Buccaneers deficit to 7-4.
The Buccaneers used three pitchers in the game.
Riley Lauffer started and went 2.0 innings allowing two runs.
Kinsey Clopton suffered the defeat, allowing four runs on five hits in 2.0 innings.
Brenna Conley allowed two runs on four hits in the final 2.0 innings. Overall, the staff allowed seven walks and 12 hits.
At the plate, the Buccaneers had seven hits, and 10 runners left on base.
Charlee Yourman was 2 for 4 at the plate, while Sandvig was 3 for 4.
Charleston Southern has one more series next weekend, as they host the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs beginning Saturday, April 26. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
