Box Score COLUMBIA, S.C. - After a six-run first inning, the No. 10 South Carolina Gamecocks gained control of the contest against the Charleston Southern softball team and took home a 12-0, five-inning win on Wednesday.
The Gamecocks (31-8) began the inning with three-straight doubles after a leadoff walk surrendered by
Mackenzie Rutkoff. Rutkoff suffered the defeat after allowing six runs on five hits.
Kinsey Clopton pitched the second inning for the Buccaneers (16-21) , allowing three runs on one hit with four walks, while
Brenna Conley threw the final 2.0 innings and allowed three runs (2 ER).
Buccaneer pitching walked a total of nine batters. At the plate, they managed just one hit and had two total baserunners on the night. They are back in action this weekend, as they continue their Big South slate against the USC Upstate Spartans on the road this Friday at 5:00 PM.
