BLACKSBURG, VA – The Buccaneers' regular season continued with them traveling to Virginia Tech for the Doc Hale Invite and Friday marking the first day of the meet.
Maya Clark and Chloe Mae Wilks had the biggest days for the squad with career bests in the 400m dash and 60m hurdles.
Clark claimed second overall in the 400m with a personal best time of 55.03 and moved up to second all time in school history for the event. Additionally, the time ranks as the tenth best in conference history.
Grenisha Thomas and
Caroline Aslerin also raced in the event with them recording times of 56.47 and 56.63 with Thomas' marking a career best.
Wilks ran a career best in the prelims with a time of 8.54 in the 60m hurdles and followed it with an even faster time of 8.52 in the finals to claim fourth at the meet.
Brenda du Toit also raced in it and had a personal best time of 9.09 in the prelims.
In the distance events,
Lucy McNamara and
Freya Buglass ran in the one mile and had times of 5:02.94 and 5:04.25.
Katrina Husby recorded the team's best performance in the 3K with her 10:07.62. Also in the event,
Elizabeth Shaylor had a season best of 10:22.87.
The lone throws event held was the weight throw with
Josaphine Ankney and
Lily Rowan competing in it. Ankney had a personal best throw of 15.53m while Rowan had a 14.98m.
The Buccaneers will return to the campus of Virginia Tech tomorrow for the second and final day of the Doc Hale Invite.
