Tahou Claims Four Big South Individual Titles to Highlight Bucs Runner-Up Finish at Big South Championships

TRYON, N.C. – Charleston Southern Women's Track & Field closed out their 2026 indoor season on Saturday at the Big South Championships. The Bucs finished as the runners-up with a total team score of 167, which saw 40 points come from Maeva Tahou who won each of the four events she competed in to be named the Most Valuable Athlete of the Meet.
 
Tahou stole the show, earning the previously mentioned award along with the Most Outstanding Performance of the Meet based on her long jump mark at the meet which happened on Friday. She started her Saturday by winning the triple jump with a school record mark of 13.03m, nearly two feet further than the previous mark. The jump also ranks as the fourth best in league history.
 
She continued the dominance in the 60m hurdles, running 8.26 in the finals to claim that title. It marked another personal best in the event for her after 8.30 in the prelims. Grenisha Thomas had a time of 8.41 in the finals to move to third in school history and ninth in conference history for the event as she claimed second at the meet.
 
Tahou rounded out her day with a victory in the 200m dash as she won the event with a time of 24.15 in the finals to be tied for the second-best time in school history for the event. Right behind her was Thomas who had a 24.25 who now sits in sixth in program history and claimed second at the meet. Maya Clark and Caroline Aslerin recorded sixth and seventh place finishes with their times of 24.87 and 25.09.
 
Thomas breezed through the 60m dash finals with her time of 7.53 to claim the individual championship in the distance.
 
Clark recorded another personal best in the 400m at the championship meet and claimed second in the event. She had a time of 53.98 to finish in second place and rebreak her school record set a few weeks ago as well as move to third in league history. Aslerin also had a podium spot claiming third with a time of 54.87 with Barbara de Kock claiming sixth with a time of 56.32.
 
The Buccaneer sprinters ended the day by winning the 4x400m relay with a school record, meet record and conference record time of 3:38.85. The squad included Aslerin, Thomas, de Kock and Clark for the record-breaking time.
 
In the distance events, Charlize Antia claimed a podium finish in the one mile with a time of 4:55.24. She claimed third in the event and moved to third in school history for the event. Lucy McNamara and Freya Buglass were eighth and ninth in the event at the meet with times of 5:00.67 and 5:01.83.
 
In the 800m, they had three scorers as well with McNamara getting third in the distance with a time of 2:13.37 to slide to third in program history for the event. Sienna Rose was sixth with a time of 2:17.54 and Buglass was seventh at 2:18.35. Rose's time moves her to seventh in school history. Giada D'Agostino finished in eighth in the 3K with a time of 10:19.12.
 
The Buccaneers dominated in the shot put, scoring five different people in the event to tally 22 points from it. Zemaya Carson claimed second in it with a 14.43m while Yassine Kamara was close behind in third with a 14.25m. Josaphine Ankney, Avah Morrison and Lily Rowan went 5-6-8 with their best throws of the day being 13.37m, 13.03m and 12.62m.
 
Along with the awards given to Tahou, Clark was named the Newcomer of the Year. Additionally, the Buccaneers were voted as the having the Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
 The Buccaneers will now enjoy time off before returning to action to kickoff the 2026 outdoor season. The team will split off for the first weekend with some heading to Charlotte for the 49er Classic from Thursday, March 19 through Saturday, March 21 with others staying in town for the Buccaneer Invitational on Friday, March 20.
