CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston Southern softball team wrapped up play with
Longwood on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Lancers 12-6.
Maddie Lee doubled to center field in the second,
Emma Smith followed with a double to right center bringing Lee home.
Lorenzza Marcacci then reached on a fielding error and advanced
to second on the throw, allowing Smith to score and giving the Bucs a 2-0 advantage.
In the third,
Jordyn Dimond singled, and
Blakley Kingsmore reached on a fielder's choice before advancing to second on the throw,
moving Dimond to third. A wild pitch allowed Dimond to score.
Carsten Sandvig drew a walk and later advanced to third. Lee reached on a walk, but both runners were left stranded.Â
Longwood responded in the top of the fourth, scoring eight runs to take an 8-3 lead, and added another run in the fifth to extend its advantage to 9-3.
Linley Jones singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth, but was left stranded.Â
In the sixth, Lee drew a walk, followed by a walk from
Addison Waring. Marcacci then singled down the right field line and advanced to second on the throw, allowing Waring to score.
The Lancers extended their lead 12-4 in the top of the seventh.Â
In the bottom half of the inning, Kingsmore singled to left field and
Harper Schoeneweis reached on a hit by pitch. Sandvig then doubled to center field, bringing both runners home to cut the deficit to 12-6.
Riley Lauffer started in the circle for the Bucs throwing 3.1 innings, allowing six runs with one strikeout.
Brenna Conley threw 0.2 innings allowing two runs.
Kinsey Clopton threw three innings, allowing four runs with four strikeouts.
