HIGH POINT, N.C. – Charleston Southern completed the second day of the Big South Championship and took home another pair of individual championships.
Chloe Greene won the heptathlon and
Maeva Tahou did in the triple jump with each recording some of the top performances in the nation in the events.
Greene took her third individual title in the heptathlon of her career at the meet, breaking all the marks that had stood coming into the meet. She finished with a total of 5603 points for a massive new personal best, school record, facility record, meet record and Big South Conference record. She entered the day with 3153 points following the four events on Monday. On Tuesday, she tallied 798 off a 5.83m season best long jump, 741 on a 43.82m season best javelin throw and 911 from her 2:13.74 career best in the 800m. Her 800m time ranks seventh in program history. Her total point total currently ranks as 20
th nationally this spring.
Tahou won the triple jump, shattering all previous records in the event entering the day. She had a best mark of 13.34m which is a new personal best, school record, facility record, meet record and Big South Conference record. She recorded it on her fifth attempt and eclipsed 13 meters on all six of her attempts. With the win, Tahou has now claimed the individual titles in the long jump and triple jump at the meet. Additionally, her jump ranks as 14
th nationally this season.
Zemaya Carson took her second podium finish of the week at the meet on Tuesday, taking third in the shot put. She had a season best of 14.15m in the event and threw that on her fifth attempt of the day.
The lone other finals on the day was the 3K steeplechase which saw the Buccaneers'
Charlize Antia take second overall with a time of 10:52.22. It ranks as a new personal best and the second-best time in program history.
Elizabeth Shaylor also scored in it with her 11:16.76 for a career best and remains in ninth in the school records.
On Tuesday, the remaining four events that needed to have their prelims held were competed which included the 100m hurdles, 400m dash, 100m dash and the 800m run. The Bucs sent four runners through to the finals in the 100m hurdles. Tahou had the fastest time of the competitors with a 13.33. Greene,
Grenisha Thomas and
Brenda du Toit each ran personal best times with their 13.78, 13.82 and 14.08. Greene now ranks as sixth in school history for the event while Thomas moves up to eighth.
In the 400m, all three of the Charleston Southern entrees advanced through to the finals.
Maya Clark and
Caroline Aslerin each won their heats and had times of 54.25 and 55.18.
Barbara de Kock advanced on time with a career best of 55.91.
In the 100m, Tahou and Thomas each won their heats to move on to Wednesday's finals. Tahou had a career best of 11.75 while Thomas ran a season best of 11.86. Tahou moved up a spot on the school record book to ninth in the event with the new time.
Rounding out the prelims was the 800m run with the Buccaneers three entrees claiming the three fastest times of the field in the round.
Freya Buglass had a 2:11.88,
Sienna Rose had a career best 2:12.04 and
Lucy McNamara had a 2:13.33. Rose's time is the third-best in program history.
Charleston Southern returns to Vert Stadium on Wednesday afternoon for the third and final day of the 2026 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The day begins with the women's high jump and men's discus throw which are slated for a start time of noon. The meet will be available live on ESPN+ beginning at 2 p.m.
