Adam Hollifield joined the Buccaneers football coaching staff in January 2023 as the Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach. Hollifield, a former football student-athlete at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) comes to Charleston after serving six seasons at Albany State in the same capacity with the last four seasons as Offensive Coordinator. The 2024 season will mark his second year on staff with the Buccaneers.
During his first season at Charleston Southern he had a pair of student-athletes earn All-Conference honors. Darius Meeks was selected to the Second-Team while Jacob Tylski was to the All-Academic Team. Hollifield led an offensive line which ranked second in the league for sacks allowed per game and third in tackles for loss allowed per game.
While at Albany State University as Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line coach guided Josh Simon to 2022 All-SIAC Conference honors leading an Offensive Line unit that finished 8th in tackles for loss allowed and 11th in sacks allowed in Division II.
Hollifield helped Albany State win the 2021 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship with a 10-2 record and advance to the opening round of the Division II playoffs. 17 different Golden Rams scored for the SIAC champions leading them to the number 1 scoring offense (34.1 points/game) in SIAC conference play. OL Miquail Harvey and KaTray Pringle thrived under Hollifield earning All-SIAC Conference honors.  In addition, OL Josh Simon, TE Tyree Taylor and WR Joe’Vontae Shorter earned All-SIAC honors.

Hollifield in the 2019 season mentored All-SIAC OL Miquail Harvey that led the Golden Rams to an East Division Championship and the 2nd leading rushing offense in the SIAC (225.6 yds./game). In 2018 the Golden Rams were SIAC East Division Champions and led the SIAC in scoring offense (26 points/game) and rushing offense (199.1 yds./game).Â
Hollifield worked with All-SIAC and All-American Division II HBCU Gameday OL Jamie Glenn leading the conference in scoring offense (27.2 points/game) and 2nd in rushing offense (204.7 yds./game) in 2017.  In addition to Glenn, OL Tedrick Coefield earned All-SIAC honors.   Â
While at Albany State, Hollifield was selected as a participant in the 2021 NFL-NCAA Football Coaches Academy to build connections and develop leadership acumen to pursue career aspirations. Â
Prior to joining the staff at Albany State, Hollifield served as a graduate assistant at Texas State University from 2015-2017. At Texas State, he worked with both the offensive line and linebackers.
Before joining the staff at Texas State, Hollifield held a three-year stint as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Birmingham Southern College. While with the Panthers, BSC won the 2012 Southern Athletic Association Championship. Hollifield mentored SAA Team All-Conference OL Zach Perkins in 2014 to honors while finishing 3rd in conference in rushing (207.5 yds.game). SAA Team All-Conference OL Jarrett Hubbard was instructed by Hollifield in 2013 to first team honors.  Hollifield worked with SAA Team All-Conference OL Drew Reece and OL Alex Miller to win a conference championship and finish 2nd in Scoring Offense (34.9 points/game) and Rushing Offense (240 yds/game) in the SAA.
Hollifield went to Birmingham Southern in 2012 after a stint as the defensive line graduate assistant coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2011. Â
Hollifield got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at UAB in 2010 training the football team with the UAB Strength and Condition program. He got certified with his Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) in May of 2011. Â
A former walk-on to two year starter and earning a scholarship as an offensive linemen at UAB.  He also was a two-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. Â
A native of Birmingham, AL., Hollifield graduated from University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Business Management in 2009.  He added a master’s degree in Physical Education from Texas State University in 2017. He is married to the now, Ciarra Hollifield.
