Tyler Bell joined Charleston Southern in the spring of 2023 as the team's running backs coach. The 2025 season will mark the third of his time with the Buccaneers. He joined CSU after a two-year stint at North Greenville where he was the team's running backs coach as well as an offensive graduate assistant.Â
During his first year with Charleston Southern he helped to lead one of the top rushing attacks in the Big South/Ohio Valley Football Association. He was instrumental in the development of TJ Ruff in earning Second-Team All-Conference honors. His second year was just as successful with the development of Second-Team All-Conference running back Autavius Ison.
Bell spent his undergraduate career at Wake Forest University being a key contributor in helping to bring back the program into national relevance. Between the 2016-2018 seasons, the Demon Deacons were able to secure three consecutive bowl game wins with them being in the Military Bowl (2016), Belk Bowl (2017), and Birmingham Bowl (2018). During his freshman season at WFU, he compiled nearly 500 yards to lead the team in rushing. He became the first freshman to lead Wake Forest in rushing since Michael Ramseur in 1982.Â
Following his playing career at Wake, he competed as a graduate transfer at North Greenville as a running back, being a steady presence in the Crusaders' backfield. One of his best games with NGU came against Valdosta State as he ran for 73 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries.Â
Bell graduated from Wake Forest in 2019 with a degree in health and exercise science and then competed his Master's of Business Administration in the fall of 2020 from North Greenville University. He is originally from Mobile, Alabama where he attended Faith Academy and was a three-sport athlete at the school.
