CHARLESTON, S.C. – With Charleston Southern softball's signing class being fully unveiled, CSUSports.com is taking an in-depth look at each of the seven signees of head coach Christi Musser's first signing class.
 
The Bucs will provide a further look at one signee each day, based on the order they were announced on CSU's social media channels. Next up is Riley Lauffer.


 
Charleston Southern Softball welcomes Riley Lauffer to the Buccaneer family by way of Phoenix, Arizona, where she attended Sandra Day O'Connor High School under head Coach Melissa Hobson.
 
Lauffer is a right-handed pitcher who also plays for the Arizona Storm travel ball organization, which is coached by Corey Mathis. 
 
Lauffer led her high school squad to a 6A State Championship in 2019 with a 28-5 record. She was voted first team all-state as a freshman, sophomore and junior. 
 
As a member of Arizona Storm Mathis, Lauffer is no stranger to high-level competition. They are considered one of the top organizations in the country and earned a third-place finish at the PGF Premier Nationals in 2018.
 
Lauffer is planning on majoring in Education at Charleston Southern.


 
Head Coach Christi Musser's thoughts on Riley:
"I have known Riley since middle school and could not be more thrilled that I will have the opportunity to coach her in college. I have seen her pitch against some of the best teams and hitters in the country and she will come in with a tremendous amount of high-level experience. She is a competitor on the mound and will keep hitters off balance with her spin and off-speed pitches. She would be an asset to any program, and we are excited that she will be wearing the Blue and Gold for the next 4 years."
