High School: Rivera signs with the Bucs from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, where she lined up as a setter at the Academia Discipulos de Cristo, Bayamon PR under Coach Julia E. Melendez. The 5-8 athlete also lined up on the Club Voleibol Vaqueros club team under Coach Cristobal Colon. Rivera shined in her senior season at Academia Discipulos de Cristo, leading the team to five high school invitational tournament championships. Twice, she was selected as the MVP of the tournament. She also led the team to a second place finish at the LACC tournament. She also earned MVP honors at the Copa El Nuevo Dia Championships, the biggest tournament among Puerto Rico varsity schools in 2015, and was nominated for Player of the Year by Onda Deportiva, as well as being selected to the 2015 All-Star Games. In her junior season, Ortiz was selected to be a part of the Pre-Selection National Youth Team Program of Puerto Rico, Sub18.
Off the court and in the classroom, Ortiz was an honor roll student. She was promoted to Officer Military Rank at the Bayamon Military Academy, earning Second Lieutenant rank in 2012 and First Lieutenant rank in 2014. She graduated from high school with high honors.
Personal: Ortiz is the daughter of Efrain Rivera and Emma Ortiz and has one brother, Efrain O. Rivera. She plans to major in Kinesiology at CSU.
