Senior Guy David won both his singles and doubles matches Friday, but it wasn't enough as the CSU men's tennis team fell 6-1 to the Campbell Camels in Buies Creek, N.C.
David began his afternoon by winning his doubles match with teammate freshman Grega Teraz in a competitive 9-8 match on number one against Campbell's Gabriel Delarue and Marc Sifre. David would then get the better of Delarue once more in singles, this time on number two, where he rebounded strongly from a 1-6 first set loss to capture the match 1-6, 6-0, 6-3.
David's match would not be the only one to go to the distance, as the three other matches on court numbers one through four would all go to the three sets. Unfortunately for the Bucs, Campbell would win each match, as senior Steven Dean, Teraz and senior Murat Atilla were unable to finish off their opponents after each winning the first set of their respective matches.
These victories combined with the capture of the doubles point and two singles victory on numbers five and six allowed the Camels to run out 6-1 victors, improving their record to 2-2 and dropping the men's team to 0-2 on the season.
The men, like the women, will return to action quickly, as the team will travel to Greenville, N.C. to face the 1-1 East Carolina Pirates Saturday at 1:30 P.M.
