CHARLESTON, S.C. - As her senior season comes to a close with today's senior day festivities, Caitlin Allen has earned a spot on the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District second team.

The senior holds a 3.96 GPA in kinesiology with a minor in biology, and tied the school record for saves on Thursday when she shut the door on Howard. Allen was the top scholar-athlete on the softball team three years and is a three-time member of the Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll, and a seven-time member of the Dean's List.

On the field, the North Augusta, S.C., native is second on the team with a 3.58 ERA, having pitched in 23 games with seven starts. Of those seven starts, she has finished four games, and has an incredible 47-9 strikeout to walk ratio. Against Dayton on March 5, Allen pitched all seven innings, striking out five and giving up just one run. She also has a hit in her only at bat of the season.

Charleston Southern will finish their home season and honor their two seniors on today with a double header against Howard, starting at 9 a.m.
