attempts while hitting for .286. Kirsten Struksnes dished out 13
assists while Amy Nokes continued her solid play notching eight
assists and seven digs. Ashley Higginbothem recorded 16 digs; the

For the match, CSU had 22 kills on 94 attempts, 21 assists, and 49
digs. CSU edged out CofC in the errors department committing 18 to
the Cougars 22.
COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON (8-7) was led by Sloane White who tallied
11 kills on 23 attempts. The pace was set by two Cougars as Taelar
Davis dished out 21 assists while Kallie McKown had 14. Emily
Shelton and Andi Zbojniewicz both had 12 digs. CofC finished the
match with 41 kills on 117 attempts, 36 assists, and 47 digs.
Ashley Johnston started the first set with a kill to put CSU on the
board early. Cougar errors and a Wynter Davis kill would tie it up
at 8-8. The Cougars would turn up the intensity while CSU would
hurt themselves with errors, this would lead to CofC taking a 20-13
lead late. The Cougars would commit a handful of errors themselves,
couple that with a late Wynter Davis kill and CSU would cut it to
24-20. Despite their best efforts, the Lady Bucs would eventually
fall 25-20. CSU had six kills on 31 total attacks while College of
Charleston recorded 14 kills on 41 total attacks. CofC doubled
CSU's error count totaling 12 to the Lady Bucs six.
The second set was dominated early by the College of Charleston as
they hopped out to an early six point advantage 12-6. A couple
Wynter Davis kills along with strong late-set play by Erin LaVenice
would keep CSU in the match, but CofC proved too much as the
Cougars closed out the Lady Bucs 25-16. CofC again doubled the
errors of the Bucs, recording six to CSU's three.
The third set played out very much like the second with CofC
charging out to an early lead 9-4. Wynter Davis would bring it to
11-6 with a kill. CofC would stretch the lead to seven and despite
solid performances by Andrea Keesee, Sydney Tracy, and Michaela
Luna the Lady Bucs could not hold off the Cougar attack and fell
25-16.
CSU will next travel to Rock Hill S.C. to take on Winthrop on
Sep. 23 at 7 p.m.
