Bucs Best UNC Greensboro

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern tennis team continued its winning ways in close matches with a 4-3 victory over UNC Greensboro on Saturday afternoon at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.

Olga Makhova and Angelica Sidorenko took difficult losses at number one and two singles, but the Bucs showcased their depth with triumphs out of the number three-six singles spots. Yvonne Hubler got the ball rolling with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Greensboro's Alex Whitehead, and Alexandra Walters and Marija Dzakovic continued the momentum with wins of their own.

UNCG bounced back with a Tonli Wilkins win over Makhova to keep hope alive in the fourth singles matchup of the day, but Alia Nour clinched the team win for CSU with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory past Stephanie Falcon.

The Bucs were unable to take the doubles point, but did get an 8-5 win from their top duo of Makhova and Dzakovic. With the impressive out-of-conference victory, CSU now stands at 5-1 for the season.

CSU is back in action at the Buccaneer Tennis Center this Tuesday versus Troy. The Bucs squared off against the Trojans at the Clemson Spring Tournament from Feb. 3-5.
