CSU has won six of their last eight and has climbed back into
contention for one of the top spots in the South Division in league
play. The Bucs travel to Winthrop on Friday to open a three game
Big South series against the Eagles. Friday's game will be
televised on ESPN3.
Before the Bucs can look ahead to conference play though, CSU
will try to build momentum on Wednesday night against a GSU team
that is 2-10 in its last 12 games.
Georgia Southern beat the Bucs in their only meeting
earlier this year, with the final result a 3-2 win for the Eagles
in early April. The two teams combined to leave 27 runners on base
in the contest and the Bucs nearly rallied in the ninth from a 3-1
deficit, despite GSU controlling much of the game, before falling
in the end.
Shortstop Alex Tomasovich leads the Bucs with a current
eight-game hitting streak and has had multiple hits in four of his
last five games.
Wednesday's game is the last midweek road game for the Bucs. CSU
will host Savannah State, USC Upstate, and The Citadel all in
midweek action (all at 6 p.m.) before closing out the season with a
key home series against Coastal Carolina at CSU Ballpark.
