CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern tennis gets back to the court after a three-week layoff as they take on Peach Belt Conference powerhouse Columbus State in their home opener Saturday morning.
Charleston Southern began their 2020 schedule with a 1-1 stay in Chapel Hill in January finishing strong with a 5-2 takedown of Elon backed by singles wins from
Hilda Lundstedt,
Madalina Man,
Tiffany Pyritz and
Liz Williams.
Columbus State enters Saturday as the No. 3 team in the NCAA ITA Division II rankings, boast three players on the preseason All-Conference team and finished fifth in the nation last season falling in the NCAA semifinals to the second seed Berry.
Saturday marks the first home contest for the Bucs who have historically dominated on their home courts with an 80-16 mark since the 2010 season. CSU is also one of just four teams in the Big South Conference to grab a win in the early stages of the season.
Saturday's match is the first between the programs and is scheduled for 11 a.m. starting a homestand that sees the Bucs play seven of their next eight in Charleston.
