Women’s tennis to play host to Charleston Southern Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Buccaneer women's tennis returns to the courts Friday and Saturday, as they play host to the Charleston Southern Invitational at the on-campus Gary Clark Bank Sr. Tennis Center. The Bucs will welcome in players from Appalachian State, Campbell and Davidson for the two-day event, which will feature both singles and doubles.
FALL STARTS STRONG
The Buccaneers have played in two tournaments already this fall, the Florence Wild Card (Sept. 11-13) and Coastal Carolina Invitational (Sept. 17-18). Doubles was a key in the opening event, as the duo of Madalina Man and Laura Marti captured the title to receive a Wild Card bid into the 25k tournament next month.
The next tournament in Conway featured the debut of preseason ranked No. 45 tandem Marti and Luiza Fullana. It topped the top doubles pair from Wofford, keying a sweep over the Terriers in the event. In singles, the Bucs claimed five out of six matches each against Appalachian State and host Coastal Carolina to conclude day one. Less than 24 hours later, the return the courts saw another strong performance in doubles – as CSU won one-half of its six combined contests with Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina before it claimed five out of six singles matches versus Wofford.
