The Charleston Southern volleyball team will look to get back on track this weekend as a pair of conference foes come to the Buc Dome.
The High Point Panthers will come to town on Friday night for a 6 p.m. match, and Saturday's match will start at 2 p.m. against the Radford Highlanders. This will be the second time that both teams have faced off against Charleston Southern this season.
The Bucs have lost two matches in a row, including a tough loss in five sets to the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs at the Buc Dome last Saturday. They come into this weekend with an overall record of 11-13 (4-6).
High Point
The Panthers are riding a four-match winning streak into the Buc Dome this weekend; three of those wins have been sweeps. They are 16-8 overall and 9-1 in the conference with their only loss at the hands of the Campbell Camels, who are undefeated in Big South play and at the top of the conference.
The Bucs fell to the Panthers in four sets the first time that these teams met back on October 1. High Point leads the overall series 37-9 against Charleston Southern.
The Panthers are led by Head Coach Ryan Meek, who is in his fifth season at the program. Under his direction, High Point won the regular season championship last year and had multiple players recognized for conference honors.
Radford
Head Coach Sherisa Livingston's team comes into Charleston with an 8-14 (4-6) record on the season. As of October 27, they are in a three-way tie with CSU and Garder-Webb for fourth place in the Big South conference. In the first matchup between these two teams on September 30, Charleston Southern dominated won in four sets, but all three sets that the Bucs won were by three points or less. Radford leads the overall series 33-24.
For the Bucs this season, four different players lead the conference in a different stat.
Indigo Young is tops in the conference with a .374 hitting percentage, 30 points above the second best in the conference.
Peyton Thompson leads the conference with 404 points this season, in large part due to her 3.65 kills per set, which is second in the conference.
Angelika Rusin has the most digs with 453 on the season, and
Skylar Yates continues to show the Big South that she could win Freshman of the Year. She has the most service aces in the conference with 37.
If you are unable to make it out to the Buc Dome this weekend, both games this weekend will be streamed on ESPN+.
