2022-23 Men's Basketball Schedule
Charleston, S.C. -Â Charleston Southern men's basketball coach
Barclay Radebaugh has released his team's 2022-23 schedule, a slate of games that includes early season trips to Ohio State, Tulane, Virginia Tech and South Florida.
The Buccaneers will tip-off the upcoming season on Nov. 7 with a home game against Toccoa Falls before traveling to Columbus, Ohio for their first-ever matchup with the Buckeyes of Ohio State on Nov. 10.
"We are super excited about the non-conference schedule," Radebaugh said. "We feel it will prepare us well for our Big South schedule. The Big South is always a grind and a very difficult conference. We try to play similar styles to what we see in our league to prepare us better for the most important part of our schedule."
CSU will visit Tulane on Nov. 16, Virginia Tech on Nov. 25, and South Florida on Dec. 2. CSU is 0-2 all-time against Tulane, 0-6 against Virginia Tech, and is playing South Florida for the first time.
The schedule also includes a home game against crosstown rival The Citadel on Nov. 30. The Bucs and Bulldogs have not played since the 2011-12 season and CSU has won the last three matchups. The Citadel holds a 16-19 edge in the overall series but the Buccaneers have won eight of the last 10 contests.
"Certainly pleased to renew the rivalry with The Citadel," Radebaugh said. "We have great respect for coach (Ed) Conroy and this is a great game for our community and for our fans. We look forward to the challenge of competing against them. We think it's a great game that should be played as often as possible."
Other non-conference matchups include home games against Bethune Cookman, Kennesaw State and Kentucky Christian. CSU also will play road non-conference tilts at Tennessee State and Jacksonville.
CSU opens the Big South Conference slate at Gardner-Webb on Dec. 29 and will host USC Upstate two days later in the home league opener.
The Buccaneers are looking to improve on last season's 6-25 record overall. The Bucs were 1-15 in Big South play.
