CHARLOTTE – The Big South announced the preseason polls for Indoor Women's Track and Field on Thursday afternoon. The Buccaneer women were selected as the league runners-up in the poll.
 
High Point was chosen as the preseason champions for this season, their third time atop the poll since it began ahead of the 2012-2013 season. The Panthers are coming off a meet victory with 215 points from last February, nearly 100 points ahead of second-place Campbell. At the championship meet, Charleston Southern finished in third place with 113.5 points. There were two events that CSU won at the meet with them coming in the shotput and pentathlon.
 
To conclude the 2023 Cross Country Season, the Buccaneer women took second overall at the meet, tying the highest finish at the meet in program history. The Bucs had four athletes earn All-Conference honors with Sarah McCartney taking the title of individual runner-up at the meet, the best finish by a CSU runner since 1989 at the conference championship meet as well as being named First-Team All-Conference. Keerstin Augustin and Anne Akagi each earned First-Team as well with Taylar White being named to the Second-Team.  
 
The winter season starts for Charleston Southern this weekend with a group of distance runners traveling up to Boston, Massachusetts. They will each be running in the 5K at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener to help set them up for fast seed times the rest of the year as the track is known for producing some of the fastest in the country.
