LEXINGTON, KY – Charleston Southern Women's Track and Field will begin their time at the NCAA East Regional on Thursday which is hosted by the University of Kentucky. The Buccaneers have five total event entrees that will be competing on Thursday with four student-athletes across four different events.
The top 12 finishers in each event at the conclusion of the week will advance to the NCAA Championships which will be held in Eugene, Oregon from June 10-13.
There will be coverage of the event tonight beginning at 6 p.m. on ESPN+. Additionally, live results will be available on flashresults.com throughout the week.
ZEMAYA CARSON – HAMMER THROW FIRST ROUND – THURSDAY @ 10:00 AM
Carson won the hammer throw at the Big South Championships earlier this month. She threw a career best and school record of 57.80m at the meet and then threw even better that weekend at the Dani Palooza Last Chance meet with a 58.54m to seal her spot at the regionals. She enters the week as the #88 national seed and #46 in the East region.
MAEVA TAHOU – 100M HURDLES & LONG JUMP FIRST ROUND – THURSDAY @ 6:00 PM
Tahou is continuing one of the best seasons in Charleston Southern athletics history after scoring 40 points during the conference indoor championships and 50.5 at the conference outdoor championships. She won this event at the meet with a time of 13.25, just off her career best of 13.24 which is the school record she set at the Charlotte Invite which was the regular season finale and ranks third in conference history. She enters the meet as the #29 seed in the East region and as the #50 national seed.
In the long jump, she enters the meet with coming off a conference championship in the event as well. She recorded a 6.27m for a new school record and the second-best in league history. This places her at #26 in the East region and #61 nationally.
GRENISHA THOMAS – 400M HURDLES FIRST ROUND – THURSDAY @ 8:20 PM
Thomas claimed the Big South championship in this event earlier this month with a season best time of 58.64. This marks back-to-back seasons advancing to the NCAA Regionals in the 400m hurdles as well for her. She enters the week with the #42 seed in the East Region and #90 nationally. Her career best time in the event came last spring at the conference championships with a time of 57.98.
BRENDA DU TOIT – 400M HURDLES FIRST ROUND – THURSDAY @ 8:20 PM
Du Toit took second in the 400m hurdles at the Big South Championships and recorded a career best time in the finals of the event. She had a 58.73 which ranks as the third-best time in school history now as well. She ranks as #46 in the East Region and as #94 nationally.
