DURHAM – The Charleston Southern Men's Track and Field team started their weekend at the Duke Invitational on Friday with them competing in events on the track.
Shawn Langley Jr. started the action for the Bucs on the day as he competed in the 200m.
In the 1500, Charleston Southern fielded eight runners in the event.
Griffin Gillespie was the top finisher for the Buccaneers and took second overall in the field. He recorded a time of 3:50.56 which was a personal best and now ranks as the 8
th-fastest in school history for the event. The team had five runners finish within a second of each other with times ranging from 3:53.90 to 3:54.50 which were
Zack Wedding,
Mason Raasch,
Ben Thomas,
Steven McCartney and
Jeff Wedding.
Conan Harper ran in the invitational section of the 5K on Friday night and dropped a career-best time in the event with his mark of 14:10.17 to take 7
th overall in the field. His time will go down as the 3
rd fastest in school history.
Charleston Southern will be back in action for the final day of the Duke Invitational beginning late tomorrow morning.
