CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern Volleyball announced their 2024 season on Monday morning featuring 27 games for the second year under Head Coach Carry Brown. The Bucs have a 13 game nonconference schedule to go with a 14 game, double round-robin, Big South slate.
The team begins the year with an exhibition against Anderson on Monday, August 26 at 6:00 p.m. inside the Buc Dome.
The Buccaneers begin the season with three consecutive weekend tournaments. For the first one, they will be traveling to the Upstate of the state to at Furman from August 30-31. They will play Furman and Charlotte on Friday and close out the weekend with a Saturday morning contest against Texas Rio Grande Valley.
For the following weekend, they are off to Chattanooga, Tennessee and will be the lone school from outside the state competing in the Mocs' event. They will face Belmont and UT Chattanooga on Friday and finish it with Tennessee State on Saturday morning.
The Buccaneers close out their road tournament slate at the Eagle Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern from September 13-14. They will play Furman on Friday morning to kick it off, an opponent they will have faced two weekends before was their season opener. The weekend rolls on with CSU taking on Georgia Southern on Friday Night and N.C. A&T on Saturday morning.
Before the Charleston Southern home tournament, the Bucs will face crosstown foe College of Charleston on Tuesday, September 17 at 6 p.m.
This year's weekend tournament inside the Buc Dome will be held from September 20-21. The Bucs will play Western Illinois and Sacred Heart on Friday while their matchup with Norfolk State will be the team's nonconference finale.
In Big South play, every team will play each other twice, once at each of their arenas in the season series. Charleston Southern will open their conference schedule by hosting Presbyterian on Friday, September 27 at 6:00 p.m. The following weekend they will hit the road to face Radford (10/4) and High Point (10/5).
The Buccaneers will then have back-to-back home weekends followed by back-to-back road weekends. The four-game homestand begins with Gardner-Webb (10/11) and Winthrop (10/12) and finishes with USC Upstate (10/18) and UNC Asheville (10/19). During the two weekends that follow they will square off with Winthrop (10/25), Gardner-Webb (10/26), UNC Asheville (11/1) and USC Upstate (11/2).
Down the stretch, the Bucs will have their final weekend at the Buc Dome in 2024 on November 8 and 9 as they will take on High Point and Radford. The regular season finale will be on Friday, November 15 at Presbyterian.
The top four teams in the conference standings will advance to the Big South Championships which will be held from November 22-24 at High Point.
For this season, the Buccaneers' themed matches include Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night on October 11, Cancer Awareness Night on October 18 and Senior Night on November 9.
