CHARLESTON, S.C. - A six-run fifth inning that included a homerun from Zach Hagaman, as well as a solid effort from pitcher Patrick Dolan, propelled the CSU Bucs past the Fordham Rams 11-2 on Saturday afternoon at CSU Ballpark in Charleston, S.C.

The two-run homer was Hagaman's first hit of the season and was Hagaman's second run of the day. Brandon McKinney and Brantley Meier each crossed home plate twice as well.

Meier went 1-for-3 with two runs and two walks. Jaren Sustar was 3-for-4 with a run and three RBI, while Derek Smith was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Tom Burkett was 2-for-2 with a run as well.

Patrick Dolan picked up his first win of the season, giving up just three hits and no earned runs. Tyler Vick pitched two hitless innings in relief, while Brennan Dorsett made his first appearance of the season and gave up no hits in the ninth.

Fordham struck first, with Ryan Maghini singling to left field to get on base in the third inning. He made it to second on a wild pitch before a CSU error brought him home to put the Rams up 1-0.

In the bottom of the inning, Meier reached base on an error before advancing when Sustar grounded out to the shortstop. Nick Chinners then grounded out as well, sending Meier to third before a single by Derek Smith brought him home to tie the score at 1-1.

Hagaman walked in the fourth to get on base before stealing second. McKinney reached first on an error, sending Hagaman to third. McKinney then made it to second on a wild pitch. Sustar singled to third and then made it second on an error by the Rams, sending both McKinney and Hagaman home to put the Bucs up 3-1.

Fordham tried to tie things up in the top of the fifth, but fell a run short. Tim Swatek reached first on a CSU error and advanced on a single by Maghini. Dolan then walked both Ryan Phelan and Nick Martinez to send Swatek home, putting the score at 3-2 in favor of the Bucs.

The Bucs then decided to put the game away in the fifth inning, as Smith started things off with a single to right center. A sac bunt by Matt Still sent Smith to second before a single from Walt Quattlebaum put him at third. A wild pitch sent Quattlebaum to second and Smith across home plate as the Bucs took a 4-2 lead. Hagaman's home run scored both himself and Quattlebaum to put the lead at four. McKinney singled up the middle, and then stole second. He advanced to third when Meier singled to the pitcher. Another wild pitch send McKinney home and Meier to second before a single from Sustar sent Meier across home plate for an 8-2 lead. Sustar picked up two bases on a wild pitch before a Rams error sent him home as the Bucs ended the fifth inning with a 9-2 advantage.

CSU added to the damage in the sixth, as Burkett singled to right field then stole second before advancing to third on a wild pitch. A double from Woodall brought Burkett home, making the score 10-2. A wild pitch sent Woodall to third before Sustar drove him home and allowed the Bucs to eventually take the 11-2 win.

Maghini claimed two of the Rams three hits, going 2-for-3 with a run. Stephen McSherry also had a hit, going 1-for-3, while Martinez and Brian Kownacki each had an RBI.

Max Krakowiak took the loss, his first of the season, giving up five earned runs, nine total, and eight hits.

The Bucs and the Rams will meet again on Sunday at CSU Ballpark with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
