CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern had a pair of winners for weekly awards in the first edition of them in 2026 on Wednesday afternoon.
Maeva Tahou earned Track Athlete of the Week while
Katelyn Grate was selected as the Freshman of the Week.
In Tahou's season debut at the Clemson Invite this weekend she took part in four different events. Her best performance on the day came in the 60m hurdles with her taking 5
th in the field with her 8.55 in the finals with it ranking as fourth in school history. She also had a tremendous showing in the triple jump with best one of 12.21m which is third best in school history. She ran a leg on the 4x400m B team which had a 4:03.34 and ran a personal best in the 60m with a time of 7.73.
Grate made her collegiate debut at the meet, running in the 200m and the 60m hurdles. She had a time of 25.56 in the 200m and had a 60m hurdle time of 8.72 to break into the school's all-time top ten list for the event.
Charleston Southern will be back in action next weekend with their second trip to Clemson of the year. The Orange & Purple Invite is scheduled from Friday, January 23 through Saturday, January 24.
