NEW YORK, N.Y. – Charleston Southern's Braxton Drummond established an indoor personal career best en route to finishing second in the long jump to lead the Bucs on day one of the Armory Collegiate Invitational.
RESULTS
Drummond, a junior from Spartanburg, S.C., jumped 7.56 meters to finish behind only Corey Crawford of Rutgers. Drummond's 7.56 meter mark bested his 7.60 distance that won the long jump in the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson University last Friday.
Jared Jeter excelled once again, finishing in a tie for 8th place in the 400-meter dash prelims by setting a personal record for the second straight week. Jeter ran in 48.25 seconds to finish top-10 in the 36-man field, a week after the sophomore posted the Big South's fastest time with a 48.54 second showing at the Bob Pollock Invitational.
Senior Rozzie Johnson provided the other highlight for first-year head coach Roosevelt Lofton and CSU. Johnson took home a 19th place finish in the 60-meter dash prelims with a 6.87 second time. That earned him a spot in the semifinals, where he placed 21st with a time of 6.94 seconds.
The Armory Collegiate Invitational continues on Saturday morning in New York City.
