Charleston Southern sits in second place after the first day of competition at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships and have already seen two podium finishes and one relay championship.
Sprints/Hurdles
Shawn Langley Jr. clinched two spots in the finals as he'll compete in the 200m and 400m finals on Saturday.
Luciano Custodio will join him in the 400m final.
Throws
Michael Calhoun earned his spot on the podium as he placed third in shot put with a mark of 17.23m
Distance
The Distance Medley Relay team will take home the conference championship as the only team to finish in under 10 minutes at 9:57.86. Their victory by nearly 16 seconds set new school and meet records, topping VMI's record time that had stood since 2009.
Three Buccaneers qualified in the 800m as
Rob Howorth,
Garrett Ricardo, and Zack Wedding will all be racing on Saturday. Howorth turned in the top time in the prelims of 1:54.22.
Alan Deogracias took second in the 5K with his season best time of 14:32.57.
Jaden Kingsley,
Caleb Kenyon, and
Sam Waldin also scored points for the Bucs by finishing in the top eight.
