CHARLESTON – Former Charleston Southern pitcher
Kyle Lewis announced his signing with the Frontier League's Odgen Raptors on Friday morning. Lewis joined the Buccaneers in the 2024 offseason as a graduate transfer from Marymount University.
"I am very excited about this opportunity," said Lewis. "I would not be in this position without the help from my coaches who always believed in me. I am so grateful for my time here and ready for this next chapter!"
In his lone season with Charleston Southern Lewis appeared in 24 contests as one of the top relief options in the Big South. He held a 4-1 record on the year and had three saves. He pitched 32.2 innings and struck out 46 batters while holding them to an average of .211.
Some of his top outings on the year included Friday in the Big South Championships when the Bucs played a pair of elimination games and he pitched in both. Lewis threw a perfect 3.1 innings against #5 Winthrop to set up for the extra innings win and tossed a scoreless ninth issuing just a walk to #2 High Point that evening. Additionally, through mid-to-late April he had five consecutive scoreless outings, totaling six innings of work and did not give up any hits across these appearances.
"We could not be more proud of Kyle and what he accomplished in his one year at Charleston Southern and his opportunity to play professional baseball," said Head Coach
Karl Kuhn. "He is a definition of a selfless and great teammate. I know I speak for everyone involved with the program, all of our coaches and his teammates, when I say that we wish him nothing but the best and we will all be rooting for him."
Currently, Odgen holds a record of 18-15 on the year. They are in the midst of a six-game series against the Northern Colorado Owlz and have claimed each of the first three contests of the series over them.
